Judging Criteria

The judging guidelines are as follows:

One of the most important aspects of the Pageant is for all judges to meet each contestant individually. It is during this personal interview that the judges have an opportunity to select a woman whose community spirit, involvement, charm, personality and conversational ability meet the ideals of a Ms. Senior Michigan.

TALENT – 30%

The talent presentation is an integral part of the pageant. It is designed to encourage exhibits of music, art, hobby interests or homemaking and to demonstrate that expertise, interest and involvement in such activities do not dimish with age.

The Ms. Senior Michigan Pageant recognizes that beauty is a matter of insight as well as eyesight. Each contestant is given the opportunity to present a statement which conveys her “Philosophy of Life .”

POISE – 20%

It is the philosophy of the Pageant that clothes do not make the woman, but rather it is the woman who makes the clothes. During this event, the judges will seek that contestant whose manner, composure and grace display a genuine beauty.
